I have the KDWS tires and I like them very much. If I lived in Georgia, I would try the KDW-2'S simply because they have even better ratings and they look hot as hell! In Maine, I will stick with KDWS because of snow . Good news is , the Magnum performed well in snow last winter with pos Conti's. 245-55-18 size is however a perfect fit for stock rims. As far as dry and wet performance, I can vouch for KDWS and looks like30-40k treadwear, Contis were dangerous at 10k. Both tires are priced right, availability might be tight. Happy motoring!

We had KDWS tires on my wife's Mustang GT and it was WORLDS better than the crappy Goodyear factory rubber.

I've already made up my mind. I'm watching the rubber on a daily basis and the very day I see my first tread bar on these POS Conti's I'm having the KDWS's installed. I'd love to go with the '2's, but up here in snow country I'm thinking the 'S's are probably the more practical choice...

I'm leaning towards the KDW's also. got 24 K on the stock Conti's and can't stand 'em much longer! I don't see much snow, but it does rain here, not sure which one to get. The diameter and width are a tad larger, any issues with speedo/clearances??

245-55-18"s are just about a perfect replacement size, no clearance issues and dia is almost identical to stock. No worries. Speedo error is zip.

The KDW2's are a summer tire. Great in the rain but very unsafe at low temperatures (below freezing) on ice or snow.

Here's a pic of the BFG KDW2's on my car:

Well if I order online how and where do I get them installed? I was looking for a storefront I could walk into, order and have installed.

Just goes to show how much of this stuff is perception-based. Like you, I had the wife's Goodyears replaced with the KDWS (99 Mustang). I felt the performance and wear where both poorer w/ the BFGs.. I guess everyones 'seat of pants' performance meter is calibrated differently.

Tirerack has fantastic service. Just phone them and they will ship the tires to an approved installer near your location.

They ship quickly and their prices are great.

Thanks Northern Rider. Didn't pay enough attention in the threads to realize they were BFG..duh..brainfart. My discount tire store, where I do all my tire business(free rotations & balance) carries them. Problem solved. Got 2 cars to buy new shoes for.

I have almost 23k on mine, and while the edges are worn more than the center, no.

But I don't trust them, as going over just the right thing I can feel the rear end get squirrely on me!

On my 2nd set of KDW 2's (NT) 255/55/18
They wear great and are very sticky.
Problem is, they are no longer available from what I am told.

Can the KDW2s be driven in 26-ish degree weather if it's dry out? Or should I stick with the KDWS?

The KDW2's are most definately a 3 season tire. From what I've heard/read is that most 3 season tires start getting too hard once the temp drops below 40.

That said can you find KDW2's now in a size that will fit 18's? I'm pretty sure you can't anymore, I was told by BFG directly that they are no longer making them. That was months ago and I'm still pissed about it.

Are there any summer tires that aren't bad under 40 degrees? Or shall i just stick with the All Suckings?

Companies making "Summer" tires should be ashamed if that's the norm, seriously, WTF is the point of a tire that can't be used outside of places like Florida and Hawaii?

Ordered the BFGs :) I couldn't find a better price in town (one place wanted 165 per conti CH95! YIKES!) and Tire Rack had em on sale for 135 (KDWS though), so I'm happy :)

Like it or not, the BFGs are coming tomorrow. That said, they'll be sitting in my garage for a few more months, because I don't need them as of right now. I got a good look at em when our friend of the family was here checking the brakes out, and not only are the brakes "like new" but the contis have plenty of tread left.

So they'll be staying for now :)

Welp, they came as promised. Geez those are HUGE. I knew they'd be big but after the UPS guy dropped them off I looked at it to make sure they were for the 18s, lmao. I guess I just don't pay attention to how giant these things are OFF the car.
